The OhioHealth Stroke Network

The OhioHealth Stroke Network is the first partnership of its kind in Ohio. Using advanced telemedicine technology, the network offers emergency teams at hospitals located across the central Ohio region immediate, round-the-clock access to stroke and critical-care specialists at OhioHealth’s two primary stroke centers in Columbus, Ohio:  Riverside Methodist Hospital and Grant Medical Center.

In a medical emergency, when every second counts, this immediate, expert intervention can help preserve brain function and prevent disability.

Care provided locally is best for patients, their families, and their communities. However, there are times when a patient requires more advanced care, such as neurovascular intervention, which can reverse or mitigate the effects of a stroke.

The advantages of the OhioHealth Stroke Network are twofold: Patients living far from a stroke specialist can be evaluated by and potentially transferred to Riverside Methodist Hospital or Grant Medical Center for more specialized care. Then, they can be returned to the hospital closer to where they live for further treatment or rehabilitation.
