Mark your calendars for our 6th Annual Walt Chambers Memorial Golf Outing, Avita Health Foundation's golf event has become one of the area's fastest growing golf scrambles and is dedicated to the memory of Walt Chambers. A beloved member of the community, Walt was an avid golfer and delighted in playing his favorite sport with family and friends both at home and internationally. Walt was also openly appreciative of the services of Galion Community Hospital's Cardiac Rehab Unit after becoming a patient. He quickly became friends with the staff and fellow patients during his recovery time. With the passion that Walt shared for life and the vision of his wife and children, in 2008 a legacy was created to help support the GCH Cardiac Rehab Unit. The outing has raised more than $56,000 to date, providing much-needed equipment purchases and upgrades for heart patients. Last year's winning foursome, Brian Newell, Jimmy Benton, Mike Shymske, and Bill Carlos, were honored with the top prize and their names added to the Walt Chambers Memorial Golf Outing recognition plaque that is prominently displayed in the Cardiac Rehab Unit of Galion Community Hospital.
